post icon Chevy Cruze LT 2010 Engine Noises Sign In

I recently replaced my car engine. A week after, this noise starts: https://youtu.be/YsWIK1MDiBc

I took it back to the mechanic and he said that my car is getting used to the new engine and not to worry. Please help!!! Thanks!

Update: taken the car back to my mechanic, this time around, he is taken the matter seriously.

I've heard a lot of dumb excuses by so called, mechanics but that takes the cake.

Have you verified the oil level?
Any warning lights on?

Seems more like he want YOU to get used to it so he doesn't have to fix it or change out the motor again!

Hi, no warning light. I haven't verified oil levels.

You haven't checked the oil? Why not?

I did not check it because I am not good with cars (female) and had a feeling that my mechanic was lying to me. Will check it.

Just checked engine oil, it's clean and full.

What did your mechanic say? Are they going to take care of your noise?

Where are you located? Cruze wasn't in the US until 2011.

I am in Abu Dhabi. The cruze model started here in 2010. He is currently looking at the engine cylinder.

Re: Chevy Cruze LT 2010 Engine Noises Sign In

I see your update up top that the mechanic is taking this seriously and should. Video to me suggests a bum engine and bad luck.
If this mechanic/shop can't just find something simple (sounds like crap to me) then depending on resources for used engines and the warranty he/she is entitled to another if needed but labor goes by the deal made not usually included but should be the mechanic's problem if you paid for this to be right without some fair warning that it could fail and labor only would be adjusted or not?
Can't guess how source for the engine is declared good or not for you. Places right near me fully test out their stock of whole OE engines with zero failures so far known to me,

This if the fourth time in three weeks I have taken the car back to him. I have never had this kind of bad luck before. He is currently ordering engine parts. When I get my car back, I am taking it to the dealer to check it as they do quality work but expensively.

Re: Chevy Cruze LT 2010 Engine Noises Sign In

This doesn't sound like bad luck so much as over the head of the mechanic or a raw deal? Prices for work or parts are NOT a bargain if this happens!

I don't know what you agreed on and warranty of the work with the mechanic but should have had an understanding up front. I wouldn't want a reworked engine if I wanted an OE good one that need nothing but usual for swapping out like an oil change, any hoses or things harmed in doing it an new antifreeze mix to spec.

Can't speak for stock of this stuff more than two places within 5 miles of me. Engines are either still in a vehicle to check out and running but still before the salvage place will even sell it will compress it, list out known miles plus the VIN# of the vehicle it came from. I really liked it to see them in a vehicle still or find the vehicle if still there for WHY it was a lost cause. Side or rear collision, tree or something fell on it not a front wreck or I don't want it.

Sorry this all went wrong. The place or person should know better. There's risk in this and can minimize it to near zero. There's risk in a rebuilt for whatever happened to the first one too IMO known good used that's a perfect match is a better bet.
This jerking you around just isn't very professional or nice to a customer,

T
