Do worn brakes always squeal?

1997 Ford F150 supercab 4x4, 4.6L, 138,000 miles.
Got new tires & the installer said I need new brakes and rotors. I am doubtful about the rotors since there has been none of the squealing noise we are all familiar with, which happens when the wear tab is exposed to the calipers. Can the rotors get damaged enough so that machining them is no longer possible without any of that warning noise?

Yup......Every rotor has a spec that it can be turned to........Just normal brking wears a rotor. Now if you take it to metal there is very little chance of saving a rotor. There doesn't have to be any noise or problem present to wear out a rotor
