Font squeaking noise Sign In

1997 Ford Taurus, 145,000 miles. Front left side makes squeaking noises when turning wheels.Started 2 wks ago. Sounds like when tire pressure is low and the tire rubs against pavement. Tires / pressure is good.Replaced sway bar link and still noise. Auto part store said maybe upper/lower ball joints or tire rod.

They’re probable right; if these joints (there is no upper ball joint on this vehicle) are still original they are non greasable (sp?) and they will begin to seize after time and make noise.
To determine which one; you can try and pierce the dust boot(s) as to be able to insert the straw from an arousal can of penetrating oil and wet it down. Do one at a time and see if the noise goes away. If this is what’s making the noise and the oil stops it; I would suggest replacing that joint. It could be full of rust and the penetrating oil will loosen/break-up the rust; to the point of the joint failing and come apart.
