2007 Ford Escape Limited AWD. 60000 miles V6 engine.

Hello, I'm hoping somebody has run into this problem. When I push on the brakes hard I hear a "click" in the front left side. It only does it once when I hit the brakes and it's louder the harder or faster I push the brake. You don't hear it much when I step on them slowly. I took the brakes a part and they look very good. The pads where replace last year. The ball joints all seam tight. The sway bar all seams tight. I don't know if it could be in the cv joints? The boots look good. With the car on the hoist moving the left wheel back and forth I can hear some noise in the drive line. It's hard to tell if it's a joint or in the transmission. The right side I don't hear much for noise when I move it back and forth.
It's annoying when I come up to a stop sign and I hear a "click".
Any Ideas would be very helpful. Thanks so much.

That noise may be the pads moving against their stops.

I actually thought of that too. I pulled the pads and they fit tight with just enough room to slide back and forth. My first thought it was in the brake but now I'm leaning towards a drive line problem. I don't hear the "click" when I'm in reverse and stop hard too.
Thanks for the idea and replying.

Make sure the axle nuts are torques sufficiently

Thats a good idea. I will check that tomorrow night when I can get it on the hoist. I'll let you know.

Thanks much.

Axcel nut is tight. I'm thinking it's in the inner cv joint. I'm going to get a new clamps and take it a part clean and regrease the joint and see if that helps.

I'll let you know what I find. Thanks.

Hello goober36, I have the same problem on my 2003 escape, noise on the front-right side when I break (when I accelerate the noise is there also but is not as loud), I notice that if I break on an incline (up hill) is harder to reproduce the problem, did you find out what was the cause?
