Ford taurus 2002 noise and flickering Sign In

So my car tonight started making a scratch or click noise from the front driver side on my way to work for overnight. Every time that it made this noise my head lights would flicker on and off and dim out as well as my console lights check engine light and my radio. The check engine light would not constantly stay on it kept flickering. I'm thinking it's the alternator so I ordered one but I need to know what else could the cause be. I noticed that the car would also stutter a little bit when the noise happened and the flickering started is my car safe to drive during the day when I don't need headlights?

Why are you thinking it's an alternator?

Is the battery dead? I saw no mention of that.

You also need to include the engine size or even better engine VIN code (8th digit) because this car uses multiple different 3.0 engines.

Well I'm gonna have to get the bin tomorrow when I go get the car. Turns out the alternator and the battery are fine had them both tested yet the car is still flickering lights on the dash. The headlights are still dimming when it drives and now when it makes the slight click noise onto of the engine light flicker it's also showing the gas light even though the tank is full.

So update, I switched out the alternator now with the new one that i purchased just becasue the old one was worn. The issue hasnt happened in a few days with the power issues. HOWEVER now the car is sputtering on start up and sometimes wont let you rev the car and will stall out. After a few tries it will start normally and run but when you come to a stop at a red light for example, Reaccelerating to keep driving will make the car rattle and virberate viciously. After a few seconds it stops and you can drive the car fine... What is happening with this car???

Have the trouble codes read and post the numbers here.

I had the error code read it was P1366 which was KAM voltage issue. I replaced the fuses for the pcm relay and memory and the light on the dash for the engine dissappeared. As for the shaking on the car im still clueless. It only does it at red lights or when stoping to turn after you try to accelerate. It doesnt rattle or shake at high speeds or low speeds only on the initial go. There were no other codes that came off this vehicle after changing out the fuses. The car also Revs up during shifting from 1st to second gear before it makes the switch.

P1366 is not a legitimate code for your vehicle so there is likely an error in the code reader or you have posted it incorrectly.

Re: Ford taurus 2002 noise and flickering Sign In

except that its the exact code that showed up on his reader and even he thought it was weird because normally you have to plug it back into his pc to get it to read but this showed up right away on his handheld scanner for the car. That was the engine code and like i said it lead to two different fuses for the pcm relay and memory. once replaced my light was gone so as of right now there is no code... Im not worried about the code on the car because now when i have it scanned there isnt one. Im worried about the rattling and stuttering from my engine when i accelerate from dead stops since the other issues have been solved.
