97 wrangler 4.0L

Just installed a brand new OEM water pump - put everything back on (hoses, bolts and radiator plug) and filled the radiator cap with coolant.

Its leaking everywhere thoe. Im guessing it could be a problem with the gasket or the screws that went into the water pump.

The gasket had circular bead going around it, that made contact with the actual water pump. I didnt add anything else to the gasket, but that should be all you need? It came with the OEM water pump.

Secondly, I use teflon tape on the screws which one online tutorial (i think stu's) said was ok to do. I did notice it was a little torn in places (i only used one coat on the thread).

What is going on? It took me literally 14 hours to do this so far over the course of 3 days. Oh well, first big repair i've done in my life!

Heres a video of the leak:

It's pretty obvious that you did something wrong. You need to get a closer look and pinpoint exactlyt where it's coming from before taking it apart again. You could even have a hose problem and the pump may have never had a leak.

PS, teflon tape is for plumbers. It's not used in automotive work unless it's a pipe thread fitting. If the bolt goes into a water jacket, then a little silicone on the threads will seal it.

The video shows the best view of the leak. Its really just pouring out, I cant even tell from where. I can say that it doesnt appear to come from any of the hose connections.

Could it be because I used teflon tape? If I wind up having to reinstall the pump i'll definently remove it and use teflon putty.

The video isn't showing anything. It's just showing where the water is ending up, not where it's leaking from. The leak is far above that point.

Rain drops are falling on my headddd...<singing>

Did you scrape the old gasket off the engine block before installing the new pump and gasket? Little trick is to use some weatherstrip adhesive and glue the new gasket to the new pump. That way when you go to put the new pump on you don't have the gasket moving all over the place.

As HT stated, determine where the leak is coming from.
