I have a 2009 Ford Flex SEL that has developed a ticking/knocking noise in the engine that you hear mostly at idle and when accelerating. When I get to speed and set the cruise the noise goes away or is so quiet it can barely be heard. The noise is heard but not felt. I also have noticed a lack of power mostly when going up hill. Even on hills that have driven over a hundred times before without having to try to accelerate to keep my speed. Please any good advice would be appreciated on how to fix this problem.

Nobody is going to be able to diagnose a noise based on your description. It's hard enough to pinpoint when standing right at the car.

You can try isolating the source of the noise yourself and maybe recording it from under the hood and posting the audio here.

If you want a guess here's one. The serp belt! Spray it with something like weak WD-40 (it will wash off) if noise goes away. Listen to pulleys if not doesn't matter a lot of makes use same bearings or belt itself shouldn't be original isn't good if the first works try another or at least take that one off and quick/short run time see if quiet if so it in that system while off spin pulleys by hand the free ones should be silent,
