Malibu 3.1 Oil Cap Blew off

I j ust purchased an 02 Malibu with a 3.1 Ltr engine. The engine runs good but the coolant reservoir was leaking and when I replaced it the oil cap for the engine blew off. After looking at it further I discovered water in the oil (was not there before). Also there is not heat coming from the heater. The engine is not steaming nor does it misfire. Any suggestions other than changing the engine.

This engine is known to get coolant in the oil 2 different ways.
1) Intake manifold gasket leaks
2) Blown head gasket or cracked head
Both are pretty common
