Metal grinding noise when making a sharp left or right turn Sign In

I have a 2007 Mazda 3, I took it to the garage a couple days ago to have the front sway bar links replaced. I went to pick up the car at the end of the day and as soon as pulled onto the main road (right turn), I heard a loud grinding metal sound coming from the front.
The same thing happens when I make a sharp left turn.

Any ideas on what it could be? Car wasn't doing this before. Thanks

Why didn't your go right back if that happened before you even got far away from the place. Something went wrong IMO,

Because they had already closed. It was on Saturday afternoon and they were closed on Sunday.

Take a look right at the new ones and if they are in place or capable of rubbing anything. Make sure wheels are tight NOW!

Concept of sway bar pins is pretty basic. Most lose one side first and rattle around swinging till that one removed or both done. Who knows if totally wrong pins are in there and can rub? Look as said.
Most (can't know details on all cars ever made) are a bar from one lower control arm to the other held by bushings that allow for some twist action and most are ok the end pins lose a part and leave a bolt swinging around.

The center mounted rubber shouldn't be able to make a grinding noise IMO and since this was right away and with turns pins don't fit right, wheels left loose (??) or just maybe a brake backing plate got bent in the course of the work.

Lots of things can grind and mostly brakes or bearing but not real likely to happen exactly at the time of this job.
Look as best you can now and check wheel lugs now as it might have been better access to have wheels off to do this and oooops happened and sadly it can even by the best of them,

Thank you Tom, I checked and the wheels seem to be tight. I called the garage and they said I could take the car back in this afternoon, so they will take a look at it. Hopefully they can fix it.

If just that job it should be just something stupid and overlooked. Glad you checked that wheels were tight,

Tom
