Hi, I have a 1995 Nissan micra LX 5 door 988cc/1L that's done 84,000 miles. Recently it has been making a rattling noise, the noise sounds like it's coming from the front wheel area. This noise sounds a bit like a rattling tin with the occasional squeel. The noise comes and goes and is generally at low speeds, happens sometimes even when driving in a straight line. I don't really know alot about cars so if anyone could give me any thoughts that would be apreciated. Also the car when picked up from the seller didn't make the noise once on the 35 miles trip home. As I do not have my licence yet (test booked) I havn't been able to drive it alot except for on my drive so not sure if maybe because the car isn't really being used if that could lead to the noises? Other than that, the car drives fine, everything works like a charm Thank-you.

The only way you find noises is to get the car on the lift and have a knowledgeable tech look for it. They will know where and what to look for. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

So the 'Engine and Car Noises' section is pointless then surely.

I put my head up to the keyboard but I still can't hear your car.

It's not totally useless. Sometimes a recording of the noise helps, but a majority of the advice in this section is wild guessing. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

About anything is guesswork if not right there looking or testing. Many noises if described well we will suggest common things to check but YOU have to do the checking. This could be something silly or dangerous and we can't know. At least take that wheel off and still get it checked but you may find something stupid. There's a splash shield for brakes, Some get bent but it's of no use if you don't know what you are looking for. At least make sure the wheel on on propery tightened lug nuts, if not sure have it checked, T
