My wife has a 2002 Ford Focus that runs great, but that has a scraping/clunking noise at the top of the front rh coil spring. When it is on the ground and the wheels are turned you can hear the noise and see the spring jump. When it is jacked up and all the weight is off the front tires it makes no noise, but I can feel and see the upper spring bracket jerking. I can't see anything from the engine compartment, but only by looking up to the top of the spring. I don't see any place to lubricate, and can't find any info on-line about it. Has anyone seen or heard of this. It is not the CV joint.

Thank You,

Chuck

Check for a broken spring. There has been so much problem with Focus front springs that there is an extended (150,000 mile) warranty on them.
There has also been problems with the spring not aligned properly into the seating at the top.

CrashedAgain: Thank you for your answer:

Do you have any other information on how to get the warranty work done? Will I just have to contact the local Ford dealer, or do you have some other information on this?

Check with the local dealer service dept.
I was referred to the service dept by the parts dept when I was enquiring about the price of a new spring because they "remembered something about an extended warranty covering something" but they weren't sure what was covered.
