Hey 2000 Ford Taurus 150,000 miles I have heard a scrapping noise coming from the rear passenger side tire for the past couple weeks. The noise seems to begin and end spontaneously - not affected by speed, road conditions (bumps, pavement, etc...), or whether or not i am using the brakes. I also put the car in neutral and pushed it forward and reverse on level ground and it still made the noise. So the rotating of the wheel is the only necessary variable i could pinpoint. However, the noise stops sometimes and starts again at random. Sometimes it is really bad and loud (like today) and sometimes you can faintly hear it. HELP PLEASE!

You need to remove the brake drum and inspect inside. It sounds like you may have some brake parts that came apart and are floating around inside the drum. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
