I don't have the mileage figures in front of my but I can go get it necessary. Was driving yesterday and within 10 miles the check engine light came and on the engine starting rattling. Besides the engine seeming somewhat "loud" there is a recurring tick or knocking sound that doesn't seem to be at any specific intervals. To me that sounds like a real problem noise and think you should skip just code check and you decide whether to tow or drive to a shop that can do both code readings and diagnose the noise. Do check fluid levels before driving if you do. The codes are important but not at the expense of the engine by driving it there.
