Squeeling noise and intermittent radio Sign In

I have a 1990 Nissan pickup 4 cylinder and it makes a high pitched squeeling "ree ree ree" noise while its running. Also my radio will shut off periodically and come back in anywhere from 2 minutes to a whole day it used to happen occasionally now it happens quite frequently. Any ideas what could be the cause?

Have you tried to isolate the location of the ree ree ree noise? We can't be there to listen to it or attempt to pinpoint the source. That is up to you.

Is the radio a stock or after market unit? When it doesn't work, you'll need to have access to the rear of the radio to make some electrical checks. You'll need a volt meter.

There is a belt in front ( not the one attached to the alternator) that is making the noise. I pulled out the radio. How do I test it?

After market or stock radio?

How does the belt look? Cracked, glazed? Is it properly tensioned?

Radio is stock. The belt looks okay. I'm not sure if its properly tensioned or not but it isn't loose and isn't really tight.

Is there anything leaking onto the belt such as oil or coolant? If you spray soapy water onto the belt while the engine is running, does the noise get worse or better?
