Hi Guys.
I have a 1993 Toyota 4 Runner.
While i was out driving today i notice that my engine was running a little hot, about half way between where it normal sits and the red bar at the end.
I pulled over immediately to check it out, after letting the engine cool down for a little while i checked the oil and engine coolant and both were pretty low.
I topped up the oil and engine coolant and ran the engine. I notice white smoke and quite alot of water coming out of the exhaust so assumed a head gasket issue.
i turned the engine off and topped up the coolant again, this time when i ran the engine again there was a little white smoke but not water drops.
After slowly driving home i re-checked the oil and water and neither seemed to have gone down. there is still some white smoke from the exhaust but no more water.

I am wondering what would cause so much water to come out of the exhaust and then stop?

It is totally normal for water to come out of the exhaust until the car reaches operating temp and burns off all the condensation. The white smoke however is not so normal unless it is winter where you are.

Yes - real water and white cloud can come out of tail pipes when cold and right conditions. If worried put some on a paper towel and it would dry, antifreeze mix will not so fast.

It was low so still find out why - pressure test both system and pressure cap alone can be a problem giving off expanded coolant but not drawing it back making just a recovery bottle not accurate,
