What is causing this sound?
|
|
|
Hey so I'm new to the forums and not too sure where to post this but I tried taking my car to the mechanic to diagnose what is making this sound in my car and he told me it was the struts but I'm not sure if I can really trust him because he said my struts are healthy and that the reason for the noise is because my car is "old". What makes me kind of iffy about his word is because if they were healthy they wouldn't really be making that noise. Anyways whenever I'm going about 0-25MPH or going over any kind of bump it makes a humming/creaking noise. It also makes the noise when coming to a stop and then accelerating. If anyone could please help me out and let me know what is causing this sound it would be much greatly appreciated! (2009 Dodge Charger SXT 3.5L V6 with 178,000 miles on it) You have to listen closely to the audio, but it's coming from the front both driver and passenger tires/suspension. https://vimeo.com/274179899 https://vimeo.com/274180307

We can't diagnose a noise with a recording you made in the car. If you don't believe the diagnose, then go get a second opinion but to me the diagnosis sounds logical to me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I’m not too sure how I’m able to get a recording of the sound outside of my car while driving??

That would be no help either. These noises need to be heard in person to recognize sounds, specifically when they occur and the direction they are coming from.

Well the sound in the video sounds exactly like the sound from hearing it in person? If it's such a huge deal then I guess you don't have to give me any advice.

An experience tech hearing it is the valuable advice for noises. Noises are never the same to diagnose thru a device vs being there, T

Well like I just said, the noise sounds EXACTLY the same as it does in the audio as well as in person, so I'm not sure why we're discussing the audio when that's literally not what I came to these forums for. You guys are more concerned about the audio than anything else. I'm done with these forums, no help at all, lol.
