My 2001 PT Cruiser makes a gurgling sound when I come to a stop and turn off the engine. This happens just when I have driven the car for a half hour or so. I have been using the heater off and on.

You may be overheating! Check that out. It could be low on coolant and tough to make sure it's full at the radiator itself not just the tank but you should know. Trouble is that if it's low you have a leak to find as it shouldn't be,
