Hi Forum
I have an old Renault Laguna which I am deciding whether to get back on the road or sell. One of the issues is a heavy vibration at the rear left wheel. It could be the CV joint or the wheel bearing. It failed the vehicle inspection due to it, and is very pronounced over 30 mph. I don't drive the car due to the noise as the whole car vibrates over 30 mph.
How can I work out what the problem is without removing the wheel and CV joint? Is it more likely to be the bearing or the CV joint? And if you change the CV joint, is it usual practice to change the wheel bearing as well? Will a damaged CV joint have damaged the differential or drive shaft?
Thanks in advance
Renault Laguna RXE 2.0l, 1994
