possible damaged cv axle? Sign In

I have a 2002 Chevrolet silverado 1500 5.3L 4x4. i believe i have a bad cv axle. i starting hearing clicking in the front end when steering. But mainly when i wasnt accelerating. Tonight on my way home i turned the wheel sort of quickly and the clicking became loud and constant even while driving straight and while idling. i do feel feedback in my steering wheel as well. Does anybody know what this could be? Could a damaged cv axle cause that terrible clicking to be constant like that?

Time to get under and or hoist whole truck and see, feel for where it's bad it seem to progressed so fast with ONE quick (so what) turn to now feeling it through steering wheel it's probably going to break totally.

Yes it could be a joint, hub bearing or maybe a brake issue about now pretty obvious so start check NOW I think you are out of time and do NOT suggest you drive this anymore till found and fixed it's advancing too quickly,

Yes, you should be looking at the truck and not the computer. Although I have never seen an axle act that way, anything is possible.

The thing I would be concerned about is the possibility of a brake caliper coming loose and possible hitting on the inside of the wheel.

Either way, it needs to be inspected ASAP.
