This is still consistant with wheel bearing noise. What type are they - inner and outer separate bearing or one sealed unit for each front wheel. Also 4x4 or 2x4?

the bearing is a hub assembly [sealed] it is also a 2wheel.the people at car-x said it was tha hub assembly but i put a new one in and also changed pads ,the tires only 4 months old had them rotated and balanced last weekend all attempts to fix noise has failed. iwas wondering if caliper is sticking and pad is rubbing but, noise seems really loud for that. it just makes a loud hmming or roaring sound as soon as i get up to 10mph or so.

Anything that rotates could make the noise. You could spin the wheels while lifted and perhaps pin the problem down to one wheel. The caliper could drag and cause noise with the contact of the pads to rotors that would change when turning or braking and so can wheel bearings. Tires can make mechanical type noises but you said they have been rotated and a problem wheel/tire should change the location of the noise.

Your description is still very consistant with a wheel bearing problem which may be throwing me off. It would be VERY unusual for the same noise to occur with the new bearing - even if bad I would think it would be different noise or at different times when pronounced. The "hub" style bearing is more difficult to tell if bad than the separate type that you can look right at the bearings and races and see flaws.

If the pads were just replaced and no service to the rotors than a noise could develop from that or change by just doing that. Again it would be unlikely to be the same.

Are you doing this work? Is "CAR-X" a site, parts store or repair facility? None the less this has to be chased down and fixed,

i agree with tom...this sounds like a wheel bearing problem.....
rule of thumb...it's usually the opposite bearing ...in other words,,if it goes away when turning right-its the left bearing......vise versa...which one did you replace?????
we used to say in the business.....get 5 technicians to agree on which bearing/side the noise was on and then REPLACE the other side...lol.....WinkSmileCoolCrazy
