Hello everyone , I have a problem with my peugeot 206 lx abs 1.1.
I only bought it a month ago second hand, and about two weeks ago it starts making this rattling noise as I am driving. at first the noise was pretty low and would only start when I went above 90kph.
now it's gotten a fair bit louder and starts happening at 70kph. the sound is coming from in front of the left passenger seat, (please bare in mind that i am in ireland and our driving seat is on the right hand side.) it seems to be coming from either the front left wheel or the left side of the engine.
I have made a recording of the sound as I was driving it's about 30 seconds long ,that I am posting in this post in the hope someone will know what it is.

Sounds like possible tire noise or wheel bearing. What happens when you swerve left or right?

hows it going hammer time, thanks for the reply i have never noticed any problems turning left or right ,or swerving.
i have another quick question, i think i will replave the wheel tommorow, as i am starting to think, like you said it's a wheel problem ,i can pick one up cheap for 20euro but
my 206 takes size 175/65r14 and the one for sale is
185/55r15 .in your opinion would this be an ok fit?the tyre i am thinking of buying came off of a peugeot 206 as well.

No, don't start throwing parts at it until you get a better idea what is wrong. I didn't say you would have a problem swerving. I want to know what the noise does when you do that. If the noise gets louder of softer swerving in a specific direction, it can help isolate the problem.
You might also try shutting the AC off to make sure it's not the blower motor.

i have never noticed any change in the noise depending on wether i am swerving left or right. i will pay attention on my morning drive tommorow though and see if there is .i don't think there is however.

That would pretty much kill the wheel bearing or tire possibilities if there is no change.

oh ok thanks for the help.i'll update this thread tomorrow with any news. i'm fairly sure the sound is coming from the left front wheel though.

If it is a wheel bearing, the noise will change when swerving.
