I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE. About a year ago, I hit a pot hole on the way to work. My stereo popped (almost like a speaker blowing out) and has not worked since. The stereo still comes on and shows display screen, however, there is no sound at all. Ever since this happened, if I hit a bump, my stereo will kick to CD and it runs like it is searching for a CD to play then goes off. I wonder if a wire is loose? Is this something that I can fix on my own? I have a car literate father and husband. I would rather do it myself, as opposed to paying hundreds for a tech to do it. Any advice would be appreciated. I want to sell the car and I need to fix the radio first. Thanks!!

Pull the deck out of the dash, turn the key on and try wiggling the wiring harness. See if that makes a difference. If not, try tapping(gently please) on the stereo itself. If it starts responding by tapping the stereo, you have a bad unit and will need to replace it to have a working stereo.
