2007 Mazda 6 / bought from use dealership in April / stock radio Car works/runs fine. Only issue is the radio. Last month I noticed the radio would be sticky. Sometimes it'd turn off and not come on; just freeze. Or it would just freeze in the middle of a song; no volume change, no channel changing - nothing. Then go back to normal. I have two controls for my radio: the dash and I have controls on my steering wheel. The steering wheel controls are limited. I can only mute, volume control, mode change, and channel surf through scanning. Whereas my dash, I can change bass, treble, fade, etc. Anywho - yesterday my radio just completely froze going down the road. I was driving 6 hours home and it wouldn't do anything via dash. My dash buttons were nonexistent. My steering wheel controls worked fine. With that said, I kept messing with it and everyone once in a while the connection would catch with my power button and it'd turn off. Same thing with turning it on; I have to keep pushing the power button until I find that right connection. Today it goes full ridiculous: radio still a frozen mess decides to turn to max volume and be stuck. Cut my car off and restarted i t- same thing. Then it turns all the way down and gets stuck. I try to either turn it down or up via the steering wheel and it'll automatically overpower my controls and go back to either 0 or 30 max. I have to leave it on the aux mode with nothing plugged in to drive decently. Someone help! I'm hoping its just bad/older electrical work. My radio still plays CDs fine and my aux. would work decent if the dash controls would respond. Called dealerships and radio specialists. It's gonna be around $600 to replace :(. I'm just hoping that's not the only option. Thoughts? Advice? Similar situations?
