95 Tercel Kenwood KDC-MP919 won't play anything Sign In

I have a 95 Toyota Tercel w/ a Kenwood KDC-MP919 single disc CD/MPCD and radio system.

It was a bit finicky for a week or two, not fully ejecting discs and gobbling them back up.

Then the faceplate LED died but it would still play everything fine, you just had to guess what track/station you were on. Sometimes it wouldn't play fine discs.

I ran a laser cleaner through just for kicks, thinking it would help.

Shortly thereafter, the whole thing died. Normally it flips the faceplate inward (security mode) when you kill the car. Instead of doing that, it half-flipped the faceplate to a horizontal position where you can pull off the plate. I pulled it off and put it back on. Nothing.

I tried resetting it, hitting pretty much every button, nothing.

I noticed the plastic frame (THIN pieces) are loose and one broke out. I removed them but they don't appear connected to any wiring/etc.

All I can do is put the face plate on, watch it wait for a minute, then switch back to horizontal position and never function.

Any suggestions?

Thanks is andvance.
