I have recently bought a 91' Jimmy with some minor electrical problems. I don't know much about cars, but installing a CD player couldn't be that hard. My problem is that the wires that are already are in place are different and wrong colored wires, making it rather hard and frustrating to work with. I eventually figured out what wires connects with another and managed to get my front right speaker to work and allowing the CD player to fully function. I'm off to a good start... when I was connecting the other three speaker wires I accidently bumped the Ignition wire against the CD playing causing a few sparks. I know this effected it seeing as how it now does not work. I thought it might have blown a fuse. I went out and bought brand new fuses and a fuse tester, when I figured out that it is not the fuse on my CD player. Could it be something as to under the hood fuse? Or is it something fried in my CD player? I don't have a way to test my CD player, so I'm in a puzzlement. Please help.

First up, WHY WERE YOU INSTALLING YOUR STEREO WITH ACTIVE WIRES!!? You need to disconnect the battery when doing any kind of work in your car. And if you are testing something and need power, terminate your bare wires with tape or crimp terminals or ANYTHING. I am sorry to say that the fuse may not have been able to take the full jolt of the ignition wire. You may have fried you CD player's circuitry. I don't know what else to tell you. You are going to have to take the unit to an auto electrician to test it for you. Sorry mate.
