2011 Ford Fiesta with premium 6 speaker stereo, sound of loud popping, feed back type squealing noise. Even with the car off, open a door and loud noise starts through the stereo speakers. Only way to stop is to turn off ignition. Unless of course, the car is not on...then have to start and then stop ignition. This problem developed over a 3 month period. Bought the car from Carmax about 6 month ago. Have pulled the radio fuse as temporary solution. Any advise? Thanks

Does it do this popping noise no matter what station the radio is set to? Does it do this noise out all speakers? Does the noise stop or change when you adjust the ac blow speed or mode doors?

The radio could be picking up interference from an electrical component that is generating EMI. The trick is finding out which one and why.

The car ignition does not even have to be on when this occurs. I believe all speakers are involved. It will occur while being driven, must restart to clear.
The radio can not be heard when this occurs, therefore I would assume it happen on all channels.
When it occurs prior to ignition, must start (not just turn on) to clear the noise.
The noise can be described as popping, squealing, screeching, and only stops after activating the starter.

Yes it has SYNC. No phone is "hooked up" to it.

That year hasn't really trickled down to the independent level as of yet. I've read others that had a similar problem and it ending up being the ACM (audio control module). The only issue is that that thing cost around $600. You would probably need to take it to a dealer to have it diagnosed to be positive that is the culprit. Seems when it comes to factory audio/nav equipment, they want your soul and next born.

I found similar information on the European models. Even found an "update" however it would not load on this car.
Thanks for your efforts!

I've had similar issues. I made a YouTube video recently. Hope this helps. https://youtu.be/XabNfMNggNM
