Im having a 100 milliamp drain on the battery. Narrowed it down to it being the BTN2 40a fuse, it drops to almost a 0 draw when it is removed. the vehicle has a after market set up for the stereo. Factory was removed, but the parts are still in place (subwoofer in trunk wall, etc)

The owners manual shows BTN 2 as being a 40 amp fuse for the - JB radio , CD
changer , cluster , dome lamps , map lamps , cargo lamps , horn relay , GEM , power
locks , speed control

Any advice on the narrow the draw down even further?

thanks

How long did you let the vehicle sit with the amp meter on it? Sometimes it takes up to 40 mins for the GEM and other modules to go to sleep without any power interruptions. If it has a hood switch on it, make sure the switch is taped down.

Re: Ford Escape 03 Battery Drain Sign In

Waited 15-20 minutes after shutting the door, and got a continuous read of 109ma, did see it drop to 106ma though. I will let the car sit for 45 minutes this time, and see if it drops further. Ill post back.

The reason im posting is because if you let the car sit for more than 48 hours with out start up, the car will not start due to the dead battery.

After letting the car sit for almost 1 hours, Im still getting a draw of 100 mA.

Looks like you will need to get hold a wiring schematic and find out actually what devices are powered by the fuse. Then you'll have to disconnect each device one at a time to see what causes your draw to go away. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to start off with the aftermarket stuff first.

If you have a scan tool capable of access that module.......Check the data and see if it is showing any thing on when it's suppose to be off.....

How would he do that if everything is shut down, including the key?

Re: Ford Escape 03 Battery Drain Sign In

I pulled some fuses inside the car on the driver side, and got a significant drop in draw when pulling the ROOM 10a fuse. Draw is now hovering around 10 mA almost 0.

The inside lighting does not appear to be turning on now. To my knowledge I have all the lighting off inside the car. Could this be a bad switch?

Re: Ford Escape 03 Battery Drain Sign In

All signs pointing to high chance this is a problem with the GEM Module. This vehicle has a RECALL. I did receive something in the mail about it last month, and havent taken it in yet. Maybe this is what is causing the draw.
