I've got an old Pioneer KEH-P7800 head unit for my Jeep. I haven't used it for years, but the other day I ran across the detachable faceplate and thought i'd give it a shot. When I connect the faceplate, most of the time the unit is dead, but occasionally, I get a connection... sorta. The unit will light up for just a brief moment and then the display will die for a second or so, then it will light up again for just another brief moment. It will repeat this over and over. Where do I begin the troubleshooting process? The unit is connected to a 50-disk CD player in the back of the Jeep and to the speakers. It worked years ago. I haven't changed anything. TIA, Thad

Sitting is very hard on any electronics that have been used.... I would suggest cleaning the contacts on the face plate & unit where they connect. A rubber eraser works good but can always get into the tight spots. Problem with electrical cleaner, it might not be able to get the heavy stuff off....
