2000 Dodge Dakota 3.9(engine) 140k(mileage)----I recently disconnected the amp & subwoofer--radio & door speakers(kenwood)worked PERFECTLY!After trying to reconnect amp(wiring) I was unsuccessful so I decided to start from scratch.I purchased an amp 7 wiring kit, connected all completely & correctly---all door speakers & subwoofer sounded great EXCEPT for driver door speaker sounded blown..when engine started I had a whistle sound that would get louder as the rpm increased--so I disconnected amp, wires & subwoofer....3 of the door speakers were working fine until I applied the brakes & then all sound was gone.I have tried to disconnect & reconnect, checked all fuses & I still have no sound.I purchased a Poineer cd player & all new connectors, rewired again but all I get is.....cd player counts as if it is playing music, all am/fm stations change, all functions work correctly including volume up & down but the only sound I get is a STATIC sound when power is first turned on to radio then nothing after that...Please help!!! the frustration is getting the best of me.During some of my online research I came across something that was talking about a SAFETY MODE that the speakers may go into if 1 speaker is INOP...could this be the case since the driver door speaker did sound blown? How or what can I do?.....I have checked my ground etc.....Thanks guys/gals for all your time & advice/experience

Some additional information would be helpful in trying to diagnose your problem. Is your 4 door speakers connected to an amplifier as well? If so, did you run all new speaker wires to each of your speakers or are you using the original factory wiring? Also, have you made sure your door speakers are mounted properly? If the terminals are touching any metal part of the door, it will cause a shortage causing no sound to be produced from the stereo, even though it is working properly.Make sure your speaker wires are attached securely to the speakers using the proper terminals. If the wires come loose, fall off and touch the inside metal of your door, it will cause a shortage there.
