I have moved your post to start a new question of your own. It's much less confusing that way.

I'm not sure of the exact problem but if you have memory & power when the deck is turned on then that is a pretty good sign that the vehicle powers & ground are good an you are looking at a deck problem.

One poster mentions some of those decks have a 10 a fuse on the back. You could r&r the deck & check the fuse. After that there reallly isn't any user servicable things left to check and unless you are experience in electronics repair, would have to take it in to be fixed.....

Re: I have an aftermarket pioneer head unit Sign In

Hey there. sorry i posted that in reply to an older post with more detail. was reposted as seperate question so no details.

heres the full story

I have a 1996 nissan regulus with pioneer aftermarket head deck.
Removed head deck few days ago and replaced next day with all wires in place.
Since then the radio does not work (i live in New Zealand!! am/fm frequencies)
The CD player still works fine and when i turn the stereo on the aerial raises as per normal.
I thought the stations were all completely dead but now have found that on max volume there is faint static.
At one stage i broadcasted a personal frequency from my ipod and when not fixed in place the head unit played this broadcast no matter what station the stereo was programmed to. as soon as i had screwed the unit back into place all stations went dead again.
Have checked fuse on rear of unit, re removed and replaced, visually inspected all wires into back of unit. Also reset the head unit with no success.
radio antenna is also only 2 weeks old so do not believe it is arial fault.

Recommend thats out of my league and to see a shop?
