Kenwood Stereo not working Sign In

Hi Everyone, My daughter has a problem with her car stereo and I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas (since we are out of them). Her Dad bought her a new stereo (Kenwood) in June 2011. (she has a 1999 Nissan Altima) It worked for several months then stopped working. My daughter (she is 20) loves her music as I did at that age. She has learned how to now take the stereo out and put it back in because her and her Dad have had to do this so many times. Her Dad is very good with mechanical stuff and has installed many things throughout the years. After it stopped working he checked and replaced all wires and it worked for a few days then it stopped. Next he replaced the ground wire and grounded it to the car and the stereo worked for a few days and stopped. Next we sent it back to the factory (they kept it for 3 weeks) and they "repaired" it or just sent it back (not sure) but my daughter just called me to say it worked for 3 seconds. She is really disappointed. Anybody have any ideas? Are we missing something? Thanks!

What stops working on it?

It does not get any power, will not start. All wires have been replaced twice. And the stereo had the IC and Crystal replaced by Kenwood (whatever those are?)
Thanks.

Re: Kenwood Stereo not working Sign In

Couple of things that you could try.

(1) Bench test it. That means removing radio unit and wiring it up on a bench to a power source. Connect a couple of speaks and see if the radio goes out.

(2) When the radio dies in the vehicle with the radio still plugged in check for your powers and grounds using a multimeter on the back of the radio plug. If you determine you have power and ground when the radio isn't working, disconnect each speaker channel one at a time to see if the radio comes back on.
