LCD Display and test unit on the bench Sign In

Hi Everyone.
The radio LCD stopped working on my 2001 Jag XK8 and I thought all I had to do was change the screen for a known good one. Everything else on the unit was working fine although it was like flying blind when tuning stations and entering the code etc. I obtained another unit with a known fault but a good screen. Changing the screen was quite easy, couple of clips and a multi plug. We all know that pride comes before a fall and now nothing works, I can't even get it to power up with either screen. What have I done wrong? Unsure. Also can I test the unit on the bench to save having to install it in the car? the unit is an AJ2050W Part number LJD 4100AA. Any advice or ideas most welcome.
Thanks
Pete

Pete,
I just don't want you to feel ignored here. By chance site doesn't have a total wizard at exactly this for parts or what to do.
High bet this has a lot to do with other things may even default to unusable if so much as tampered with? IDK and can't.
So, with that I suggest a dealer for this car even if they send you hunting for it whole or just display.
Wish you luck you may find a Jaguar site or parts with know-how also and what you probably need to do to program it from a used other this to this? Ask if any chance of new if so seriously hang on to your hat for price,

Tom

Thanks for the reply Tom. Even used units are expensive so I'd rather spend the money on a sporty exhaust and enjoy the V8 music instead of the radio.
Sadly my wife doesn't share y taste in music so I'll continue to look till one turns up.
Thanks again
Pete

You may find the whole thing cheap. What I can't know is if the OE one is missing what other bull happens? If you have info on the one you have it may say if programmed to that car what to do as if stolen.

Save old one and if used from a total wreck ask for the plug-in wires or anything else that plugs into it just in case that's different for unknown reasons.

Best I can do without serious digging myself,

Tom
