1998 Pontiac Bonneville LE 6 cylinder I have a 1998 bonneville that I wanted to replace the radio head unit in. I bought a 2-DAC conversion kit and a wire harness for this car (so i wouldnt have to cut anything). I installed everything (from what I see) correctly and had the radio working first try when i put the auxillary power on the car. But when i turned the car on while having something plugged into the radio's usb (hadn't turned the car on yet before this, only auxillary), the Heater display came up with 3 dashes (---) and the radio receives no power through the 12v line, but the 12v line DOES in fact have power. Anyone know what happened or how to repair it?

First what brand was the head unit did you install? And make sure the place you bought it from gave you the right wiring harness. Be carefull when installing audio in cars with digital dashes, Cause if you accidentally cross a wire. The chip that controls the dash will shut the electronics down as a safety precaution. I would suggest unplug the head unit, recheck all the connections on the head unit also check to see if the head unit has a fuse on the back of it and check to see if it's blown, Plug it back in to see if it will work. If it doesn't work. I would take the unit back and have it exchanged for a new one. If the new one does the same thing, You may have a wire crossed somewhere.
