Pioneer DEH-P9650MP Sign In

Hi there,
I have a Pioneer DEH-P9650MP head unit and recently the main display stopped working. it would occasionally come on every now for a short while but now has stopped working all together. It reset itself so now everything is factory settings but i cannot change them because the main display (big screen) is not working. I took the unit apart to see if anything had come loose but everything seems in ok shape on the inside. it has been fixed once before by pioneer and they replaced the rabbit cable (i think that was what they called it). any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

sounds like you have a bad ribbon cable to me. there are two ribbon cables for that deck, one for each face. the more the faces are moved, the quicker the ribbon cables will go bad.

Solid advise as usual Kenray. Your help is always appreciated in this area.

How hard of a repair is that? Is this something a DIYer could do or is it best left to a professional with all the right tools?

Changing the ribbon cable is not an easy thing to do. It is best left for a professional with the right tools to do the job. You would need to take somewhat take apart the assembly to get the right angles to remove certain screws, as well solder the ribbon cable to the gold plated connection where the faceplate connects to, and then put it back together correctly.
