Two Clarion head units fried

Hello - I had a Clarion head unit that stopped working on me. I took it out and replaced the wiring harness into another working Clarion unit to see what would happen, but this time I saw an arc behind the dash. Now the 2nd Clarion unit doesn't work. It turns out that part of the memory wire was exposed, and was touching bare metal behind the dash frying the head unit(s) somehow.
Does anyone know what might have happened to the head units and how easily it might be fixed? All of the fuses on the car are fine. I've bench tested both stereos and they're dead as a doornail. I can't find schematics for clarion online either. I'm hoping someone can tell me it's an easy fix. Thanks in advance.
Oh yes, and
Fried unit #1 is a Clarion DB336MP
Fried unit #2 is a Clarion CZ200

If you are lucky, it may be something as simple as a blown trace. There may also be a fuse behind the radio, did you check that?

Hi KenRay,
Thanks for your reply. I've taken the deck apart and can't find any fuse inside. How do you check a trace? Continuity tester?
I'm finding units on ebay selling for less than $50, so maybe its not worth my time to mess with. A shame to scrap electronics though, it's not my nature.

Yes, you can use a continuity checker to test bad traces. Usually you can visually see a blown trace as the insulation will be burned off of the trace and will look disconnected.

Test both in your house before purchasing another one or getting rid of both. Its as easy as hooking one up in a car if you think about it. Use a jumper box for power and hook it up the way you would in a vehicle to see if the unit comes on at all. red to red cable,black to black cable. Make sure the fuse in the back of the cd player is good because you could blow the cd player if it has no safety(fuse) before it hits the cd player. The fuse stops the cd player from frying by taking the hit first and shutting down the cd player instantly.
