Are you having any battery problems? If not, check your connections at the rear of the unit. If okay, you're probably looking at another radio. If I'm not mistaken, you'll have a power wire for the radio, itself, that is hot with the ignition ON or ACC. You'll have another power wire that is hot all of the time for memory. A wiring diagram will be needed, of course.

Holy Toleldo - I never post in the Stereo section as I'm so out of date I just got rid of the last car with an 8 track!

Late 80s Ford cars anyway - the "memory/maintainer" wire is colored a "celery green with yellow tracer" or vs versa. Test with a light or maybe if nothing that color is there the trucks do it differently. Just tested one (car) right at the plug to radio from factory harness - only one with power.

In this old Ranger if there's power to that wire the clock and radio pre-sets are remembered. Split second loss of power it would be lost.

Problem could be at the plug, in the radio or who knows as surely if you test it will work and be unconclusive. If you just make sure that wire can stay empowered by anything with constant power it sould stay working. My guess is the plug is the problem not the wires along and to it right at the radio.

If you find that wire dead I might (with an old 89) just add FUSED constant 12v from perhaps the cig lighter or further away but do fuse it with very low amp fuse - perhaps low as 2.5 ,

Ok - I'll stay out of the stereo section after thisCrazy

LOL - Dating myself conjours up some interesting thoughtsCrazy

Shoot Loren! - I'm still getting over having to wait for radios to warm up! The reverbs with AM only.

Face it buddy - it took me TWO DECADES to know that MicroSoft wasn't a diagnosis for a guy with two annoying problems -LMAO!
