my radio got "washed" Sign In

I left the windows of my car open during a rain storm this morning (I know... I know...). The inside was pretty well soaked. It seems to be okay but my radio/CD player doesn't work. The speakers just crackle when I mess with it (if it turns on at all). Will it dry out by itself? Is there anything I can do to dry it out? What should I do? Is it probably the speakers or the radio? This is my first car so I am clueless...

Incase you couldn't figure out by my user name it's a 98 Honda CR-V

Re: my radio got "washed" Sign In

I would let the radio and everything else dry out before attempting to turn it on. If there is water inside and you try to turn the radio on, you run the risk of shorting something out. If drying out the radio and speakers do not work, then your radio and/or speakers are probably ruined and you would need to replace them. If you can take the radio out and speakers too, I would go ahead and do so, to let the radio and speakers air dry out. However, in my opinion, your radio is probably the thing that got messed up. Good luck to you.

Most of the Time if your radio is fried you should be able to smell the back of it and smell almost a burnt rubber smell I doublt your speakers are damaged just the radio

well i think there is some problem with your radio..first make sure that whether your radio was washed by rain or the speakers and as they are inter connected with each other so there are chances that your radio is also damaged...so check it properly...
it will sry by itself but then it will not start working..you have to check it by mechanic
