02 lesabre door module

It's a 2002 buick lesabre , the windows , trunk release and normally the radio will shut off when you open the drivers door but all of those have stopped working I pulled the drivers door panel and tested for power and ground at the module and have both , I got a used one from the salvage yard and still no good as that one may also be bad from sitting there in a tore up car in the weeds for who knows how long . Is there something else I can test or is there a supplier that won't charge $600 + for a new one ? Thanks .

That module has 3 power inputs. Did you test all three? Did you test every single fuse with a test light with the key on? I really doubt the module is going to be your problem. SERIAL DATA CONTROL OF RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is a vehicle power mode that permits the operation of selected customer convenience items after the ignition switch is turned OFF. These selected items will remain in operation until a passenger compartment door is opened or until the RAP function timer reaches its shut-off limit. The modules listed below all receive a RAP message from the Dash Integration Module (DIM) module over the serial data circuits. The DIM module monitors the ignition switch position, battery condition and passenger compartment door status to determine whether RAP should be initiated. The DIM module then sends a message to the listed modules telling them that they are in RAP power mode. The modules then support the operation of the systems under their control as required by their RAP power mode strategy. RAP will end when one of the following conditions are met: ^ The DIM module receives an input as a serial data message from the Driver Door Module (DDM) indicating the opening of a passenger compartment door. ^ The DIM module receives a message from its internal timer indicating the end of the RAP period after 10 minutes. ^ The DIM module detects a decrease in battery capacity below a prescribed limit. The transition from OFF to RUN/ON or ACC of the ignition switch. The DIM module then sends a serial data message to the listed modules ending the RAP function. The modules receiving serial data messages for RAP functions are: ^ The driver door module (DDM) ^ The radio ^ The Rear Integration Module (RIM) ^ The Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM) -Generation F1 ^ The Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU)-Generation 2.6 RELAY CONTROL OF RETAINED ACCESSORY POWER (RAP) Retained accessory power (RAP) is a vehicle power mode that permits the operation of selected customer convenience items after the ignition switch is turned OFF. These selected items will remain in operation until a passenger compartment door is opened or until the RAP function timer reaches its shut-off limit. When the RIM module is in the RAP function as described above, it closes the RAP relay. This provides power during the RAP period for the components supplied by the RAP relay. Buick lesabre custom , What I found was the #22 fuse and the #46 relay in the rear block were there but not plugged in to anything as there was nothing to hook up to in those positions , with the key on I found no bad fuses in the rear or under the hood . There was power to the heavier "14 " gauge orange wire going into the module but no power to the other 2 " 16" gauge wires one of which was actually org/blk . I'll give it some thought over night and check it out mon .

2 of those wires are connected directly to live fuses so they should be hot. Once I spliced power to the one org wire from the rear fuses from the power window one things came back to life . the one other fuse #7 for DRVMDL was hot all times , so I guess I can trace the wire harness for the problem or solder in a hot wire for that one circuit . I would say do it right , what may be the problem I find ?

It's a straight run from that fuse to the module so that wire has a problem somewhere. ? I'm usually off the wall no different now. Donut? Quoting you from top post>"I pulled the drivers door panel and tested for power and ground at the module and have both<" How many frigging wires go thru the dang driver's door jam snorkel? It senses when it's open or not is wiring it hates bending there most I would check that out. Sorry if I missed that already ruled out I was watching just the Rip Van Winkle thing woke up after 20 years this thing is almost that old wires 2000 up stink pretty bad IMO don't like bending - heat, cold or high use all together is normally driver's door, Tom

Thank you , I was thinking where it went under the carpet but the door snorkel would be easier to start with , I'd rather find the problem than hot wire it as there may be others , It's got just over 100,000 so I'm hanging on to it . For now anyways .

? Floor if some trauma or anywhere if that. There always was trauma to wires to a door since the ice age. Insulation and if not fine stranded like hair no metal likes bending. You sometime tell by feeling, visible damage or clues. Tug on wire may feel some springiness - it shouldn't. Not funny but just this Sunday fixed a headlight wire car lost all lights over one to a halogen high draw one showed insulation had been too hot now just time see if that solves it long term it worked to cut back plenty of extra. My area has had some really hot weather for the usual sudden change this crap goes wild like you see or hear of one there will be lots of others at the same time. Anyway hope it's just that silly save some hair loss splice in new wire or see how much you have? Unknown till located, Tom

You nailed it Tom , I peeled back that boot and found the broken wire and some cracked insulation that'll kill your 4 year old battery . Thanks again gentlemen I'm going in the pool .

Good luck that, that is all it is now. Batteries are perishable for vehicles. They get killed being run dead and charged up quickly and you need the dang thing or nothing works. Be sure to use correct grade of wire if putting new in it isn't all created equal stuff to bend should be fine strand. If junk yarding see assorted wire types and where used it totally matters or quickly fail again. Stay well and cross fingers no extra nightmares lurk, Tom
