03 alero no low speed blower Sign In

Good day everyone, I have a 2003 Olds alero. 4 cylinder 100000+ miles. A nice elderly lady at church said, she got the car for free. Never had any low speed blower control. High speed was all it had. Forward to today, completely lost high speed blower. I replaced the bad blower(yes it was definitely bad) ( we regained high speed only), Also replaced the resister while I was in there, figuring it would solve the low speed problem. It didn't. All the fuses are good, i have power on one wire coming into the blower speed control switch. When the harness is plugged into the switch I have power across every wire at the resister at the same time. I unplugged the switch and jumped the only hot wire to the one beside it and it also sends power to every wire at the resister. What should I be looking for to help this lady out? Thanks

This system operates a little different than most. It has a relay that routes the power for high speed when energized. When at rest all the other speeds pass through it.

The resister is still the most likely point of failure but it can also be a bad connection due to overheating or a bad blower switch. You'd have to test the individual wires coming into the resister with it unplugged at various speeds.
