06 Ford E 450 no fuel gauge

I am not sure if I asked this question so forgive me for asking again . I have a 06 Ford E450 with the 6.0 diesel engine with a 120000 miles on her .Well just recently we had some starting issues . Truck wouldn't run and found a bad filters along with a bad pump . After getting it running the fuel gauge dropped to empty and low fuel light came on . After starting it a few times gauge worked and light went out . Tank was full . I bypassed the fuel gauge at the sender by connecting the wires together . Nothing . Then it started working again . Yesterday had a report that the gauge crapped out again . Where should I start to weed out what's wrong ? could be computer problem , relay or a fuse ? Thanks

You need to quit this habit of yours of twisting wires together to bypass things. That is not acceptable practice and one day will cause you a big mess.
I don't see how bypassing a fuel gauge helps anything. If you have a bad sender, then you will likely have to replace the pump with sender again.

? Is the only problem the gauge doesn't read properly? YOU put the gauge in so how hard was it (couldn't guess for this) and any chance an arm to a float is messed up, was bent and straightened when YOU did it? Easy as HT said messing with wires to bypass anything as said. No telling what side effects that make everything worse later that can cause,

you did replace fuel pump?
If so you used a FORD part just plug in with no wiring to do.
A likely wiring issue at pump module - scan for codes- post all codes reference shorted to voltage, or signal shorted to ground...- at fuel pump confirm voltage on YE/WH and BK/YE

I am back and I have a P0460 code along with a P0299 , P0672 and a P2284 Now hat could be the cause of the level sensor ? Thanks

Nothing there has anything to do with your fuel gauge.
The engine seems to have some issues but nothing to do with the fuel gauge.

Think what is happening is the fuel gauge will go to empty and the light comes on . Then the ECM thinks the rig is running out of fuel and starts turning things off ? Just a thought , When I went to move truck into shop fuel gauge showed full . I cleared the codes took truck out an drove around . Codes never came back and fuel gauge still shows full . I tested the gauges and they work fine . Thoughts ?

No, the ECM does not operate that way.
The only possible connection is if the pump is also dying when that happens but you can only determine that with a fuel pressure gauge.
