07 Chevy Malibu brake lights

Brake lights stay bright like I'm braking cruise control stop working at the same time. I change the switch switch at the brake pedal. I tried to turn the cruise on it did not work unless I put my foot on the brake pedal it worked until I took my foot of the brake.

Sounds like the brake light switch is working backwards for some reason.
