In a sum up... 2007 Lincoln Navigator Clicking noise and no start Battery and starter relay checked out as good Bought new starter and changed it out My nephew showed up and put the starter back in; however, the navigator didn't start up. Checked the wires, and think he may have had them crossed. The neg battery cable was hot as hell. My husband then came home and changed around the wires, navigator then starts up, but now there is slight smoke coming up from the under the navigator and a brunt smell. My issue: What could be the cause of the burnt smell and smoke? It's not excessive, but don't want to risk it as something doesn't seem right. I checked the wires and I don't see any melting or corrosion. I'm wondering if it could be the relay or that due to the wiring being wrong, something got fried? Any help is greatly appreciated!

OMG.......... Tow this thing to a shop before you have a bonfire in your driveway. You can't afford to make electrical mistakes on a car with as many modules as a Lincoln. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
