so i had a problem with it starting and i changed the starter but still had the same problem and set it off to a mechanic who said he could fix it, got it back and it seemed ok for a few days and then the same problem, sometimes it would start and sometimes not, sent it back to the same mechanic and got it back and on the 2nd day it fried up the whole wiring harness, found a replacement on and installed it but i still have the same exact problem with her and i just leave the battery unplugged. anyone know my next step?

Remove the battery cables from the fender solenoid, both sides and at the starter. Then wire brush both the cable end and the stud it attaches to, even if it looks clean to you. Then re-attach them. This was a common issue on Fords back then and most mechanics would miss it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It's not a difficult thing to diagnose but you have to do some testing while the problem is present and you will need 2 people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

i have run a test light connected to the negative battery terminal and all the wiring seems to be ok but i admit to never using a test light before. so far i've been advised to change the ignition, solenoid and the starter all of which i did to no avail.

You really should be using a digital voltmeter instead of a test light for this. It takes very little voltage to light a test light so it won't show a voltage drop. While someone is holding the key in start position, you need to measure voltage at each connection between the battery and the starter until you find the voltage drop. Another way to do it is to measure the voltage between the positive battery post and the starter connection. You shouldn't see any more than half a volt.
