Hi, I have a 65 Galaxie 500 4 dr, with a 300 motor. Now here is my issue. Awhile ago, my battery kept going dead. I thought it was a bad one, replaced it, and still died. So I figured it must be the Alt, or external regulator. Regulator tested good, so I replaced the alt. Same thing is happening. Ive tried 3 regulators, and 2 altenators and still cant find the problem...ANY HELP ON THIS?????

Is it going dead while it's being used or after it has been parked?

It doesnt go dead parked as far as I can tell. If I charge the battery and for example drive at night, I will see the headlights start to go dead radio get quieter, etc. after prolonged driving.

Use a test light and test for power at the main terminal with the key OFF.
Do you have power?
What is the voltage across the battery with the engine idling and all accessories off?

There is one large wire going to a large terminal.

Don't mean to be a "butinsky" but you should be able to take Hammer Times measurements by simply measuring across the battery. Measure with the engine off, then with the engine running and post the measured results.

More buttinski - take the volt measurement as suggested. These had trouble with the plug at the volt regulator also. They have a solder in pigtail plug for those - it was a common trouble spot!
