1982 toyota pickup main battery fuse? Sign In

1982 Toyota pickup
2366 cc
228k miles

This truck has been sitting unused for a few months. My partner started it a couple days ago and after starting it conked out and will not start again. There is a quiet manual click in the engine bay when the key is turned in the ignition. I believe the main battery fuse may be blown but I don't see any main battery fuse on this vehicle. Would it be a 15A fuse labeled engine? Seems to be low amperage compared to what I'm used to....

Thanks for any help or pointers.

You're making assumptions with no basis. Do the headlights work? If so, the main fuse is good.

You should always test all fuses using a test light with the key on before looking for anything else.

Thank you thank you! You are correct! This morning my partner said the headlights weren't working, and that nothing electrical was working. I was going by that info when I wrote this post, _assuming_ he would have told me if anything changed. After your response I asked him if it was true that the headlights didn't work and found out that this most recent time he tried to start it, electricity inside the cabin in fact worked! It's apparently unpredictable. So now I know it's not the main battery fuse after all.

If the headlights don't work that fuse is possible but not likely unless something happened that you're not telling me like hooking up jumper cables backwards.

What you need to check is the battery cable connections and the battery itself. That sounds more like it.
