So I bought an '85 Ford Ranger with a 3.8L V6 that has about 153,000 miles on it, and had sat in the same place for about 7 years before I got it. The main problem I'm having (but not the only one) is that if the key isn't turned far enough towards the start position (more than where it rests naturally after being cranked) then my gauges all but the speedometer and my battery indicators turn off until I move the key farther forward. I replaced the starter solenoid and the starter switch itself to see if it could help but it didn't. The other problem I'm having is the truck will have a tendency to turn off when I get to stoplights unless I throw it in neutral as I'm rolling up to the light and keep my feet on both pedals)

If you can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

3.0L?

When you replaced the ignition switch, you changed the switch that was mounted to the steering column tube right?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
