1987 volvo drains batery

I've got a 1987 Volvo 240DL with a lot of issues. Right now we're working on getting the electrical system working. It had been sitting for a while up until last weekend when we started working on it. It cranked without a problem, however throughout the day the battery must have been drained by something. At first none of the electrical stuff was working, but by the end of the day (through no help of my own..all we did was wash it) everything except for the radio began working and slowly but surely the battery died. We took the battery to autozone to have it checked out and recharged, then when we put it back in the car it wouldn't crank (I'm pretty sure it jumped timing). Now, a day and a half later the battery is dead again. I've checked all the usual things that might kill a battery like head and interior lights, and none of them were left on. Also, it's really strange that everything electronic except for the radio (it's got a fairly new stereo system in it) is working. I've checked the fuses and they all seem to be in good condition. Any ideas?

You should invest in a good battery charger with auto shut off. The battery may still be junk even if it tested out ok at the Zone. For a drain: Put a test light between disconnected neg battery terminal and the cable. With everything electrical off the light should be off. If on pull fuses one at a time and note when it goes off. That indicates a problem in the items covered by that fuse which helps in finding the fault. Make sure doors are shut and hood light unplugged etc., while testing, T
