1990 1500 4x4 chevy pickup 350 and has 23xxxx on chassis 1xxxxx on motor im having an electric problem. the other day it just died in the middle of the road. i got it towed home. it was getting feul, but no spark. i tried everywhere even right off the coil. so today i changed the coil. also the plugs but just because they needed it. it started for like ten seconds, then died. again now no spark. so im taking the coil back for one more shot at the coil just being a junky one. if that doesnt fix it what should i check next?

A common cause of no spark on the HEI distributor of the era was the module or wire connections to it under dist. cap. and if by chance they still used a vacuum advance on this truck it would bend those wires and was even more common. I plead guilty that I don't know how to test one as there would be a couple possible but I used to keep known good ones as a test tool. The most common one was just a plug at opposite ends (top left) with just four spade connections but a few are shown here for other engines,

It's ok - enjoy the site and hope you can get answers you need or help if you have the answer. Regulars frequently just read all the posts no matter where posted so two of the same if already replied to at one then the other is impossible to keep track of who has already suggested what. It's for YOUR benefit. As said, enjoy away. Lots of stuff already archived here so have at it, T
