1991 Nissan Pathfinder Lighting Issues Sign In

I drive a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder 4WD. A few days after I bought it, I tried to turn on the brights but they didn't work. I flipped the switch and my headlights turned off completely. It was no big deal to me, I seldom use my brights anyway.

A couple of months ago, I noticed that one of the headlights on my Pathfinder went out, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought a couple of new headlights. After putting in the headlights, I flipped the switch, and my left headlight was still out. And, my brights still didn't work.

This is the biggest issue I've had with my Pathfinder so far. I've been banging my head trying to figure out what's wrong with that light! I don't want to pay a chunk of money to take it to a shop when it could be a simple repair. I'd rather exercise all my options before I take that path.

Has anyone had this issue before? Any advice on where to start looking for the problem? I'm not what you'd call 'mechanically inclined,' so I can't perform miracles here.

Let me know please!

Richard

Try replacing your headlight relay is the 1st thing i would do. You will fin this relay in a small black box under the hood of your car. Take off the lid, there will either be a diagram for fuses and relays on the top or under the lid of the box. Find and remove the head light relay. Reinstall a new one (bout $25 here in oz). See if that works for you. Try it and let me know.
