1991 dodge truck keeps draining battery Sign In

i have a 1991 dodge power ram with a 318. basic model(no power windows or ac). about 3 months ago during the snow period i noticed my it was getting harder to start so i replaced the old battery and it was good for about 1 month.i dont drive during the week so i would start it up every 2 days. last month while driving the charging gauge showed it wasnt charging and it was running on the batt. I changed the alternator, found the same thing still happening, put the old alternator back in,(old one was still good)and tried to check wire's. now the batt is totally dead and i dont know what to do.

Well the first thing you have to do is charge the battery up and have it tested. Once you get it running you need to see what the charging system voltage is using a volt meter on the battery terminals.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
